Easy Rail Day Trips from Carnoustie

Staying beside Carnoustie station puts much of eastern Scotland within reach by train, from Arbroath up the coast to Dundee, Aberdeen and beyond.

Easy Rail Day Trips from Carnoustie

One of the pleasures of staying at The Station Hotel is that the railway station is
immediately beside it. Here are some of the places a guest can reach by train for a day
out, nearest first.

Arbroath

The easiest of all: ScotRail gives an average journey of around ten minutes. Abbey, harbour,
smokies and cliffs, all walkable from the station.

Dundee

The city on the Tay, with V&A Dundee and Discovery Point on the waterfront beside the
station.

Montrose and Stonehaven

Further up the coast, Montrose has its tidal basin and wildlife, and Stonehaven is the town
nearest Dunnottar Castle.

Aberdeen

A full day out in the Granite City, with its museums, harbour and beach.

Further afield

Glasgow is a long day, a little over two hours each way on ScotRail's average, and suits a
night away better. For St Andrews, the nearest station is Leuchars, with a bus or taxi on.

Before you travel

Some journeys need a change. Check ScotRail or National Rail for times, fares and
