The Station Hotel Carnoustie

Explore Carnoustie and Angus

The golf, the beach, the town and the wider Angus area — all of it within easy reach of our front door.

Carnoustie is a small Angus town on the east coast of Scotland, between Dundee and Arbroath. It is best known for its golf, but there is a beach, a working town centre and a railway station that makes the rest of the coast easy to reach — and the hotel is immediately beside that station.

This is our guide to what is around us. It is written from the front door outwards.

The golf

Carnoustie Golf Links is one of the best known links courses in the world, and it is close by. The town has grown up around it.

If you are planning a golfing trip, our golf breaks page has more, and we are happy to talk it through on the telephone.

Golf

The beach

Carnoustie's beach is within easy walking distance of the hotel, and it runs along the edge of the town. It is a good place to walk off a large dinner, and a better one to watch the weather come in off the North Sea.

The town

Carnoustie is a working Angus town rather than a resort, and it is the better for it. The town centre is within easy walking distance of the hotel, and everything you are likely to need on a short stay is close at hand.

Getting around by rail

Carnoustie is on the line between Dundee and Aberdeen, and the station is immediately outside the hotel. That makes us an unusually easy base if you would rather not drive: you can arrive by train, leave the car at home, and still reach the coast in either direction.

Please check current times with the operator before you travel.

Angus and Dundee

Arbroath is up the coast, Dundee is down it, and the Angus glens are inland. All three are easily reached from Carnoustie by train or by car, which makes the hotel a sensible base for a few days of exploring rather than a single night's stop.
